When it's time to rest, relax, and recharge after a busy day, your bedroom
should be a quiet, peaceful haven that allows you to enjoy deep, rejuvenating
sleep.
One way to promote healthy sleep, according to an article by Claire Anderson
in Mother Earth News, is by "renewing your room" to make it a clean, "green,"
comfortable haven.
- Repaint with no-VOC or low-VOC paints.
VOC stands for Volatile
Organic Compounds, a class of chemicals you may not want to have as a sleeping
partner. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) VOC's are
respiratory irritants that can inflame the nose, throat and lungs. Some have
even been linked to brain damage, birth defects and cancer.
- Use soothing colors, not bright obnoxious colors that will keep you
awake.
- Choose solid wood furniture, new or used.
It's the healthy
alternative to particle-board furniture which can release toxic formaldehyde
into the air.
- Be sure to use the recommended amount of padding on your VISCO
mattress.
We recommend purchasing a fitted mattress pad cover and fitted sheet to
cover both the mattress and the topper. These items can be purchased from us or
at most linen supply stores.
